CLIMATE CHANGE


 During the last two weeks we were presenting our second project. Every group was able to choose the topic they preferred to discuss about it. As I told you in our first presentation's blog, we did it with a power point to show more clearly what we were speaking about. Presenting is easier when you do it using power point, there we added pictures and videos that make the viewer to understand better what he is seeing. This presentation was really realistic and helped me to see things that I had never thought about. The first group's topic was Climate Change, we made a summary of the main areas that are being more damaged due to the climate change in the world. The second group's topic was World Problems. In this case they centered their presentation in the world infrastructure. Finally, the third group had the topic: Gender Inequality, they made a wide analysis about the principal areas of the gender inequality in the world today. Now I have to say that I am interested in new things, I have new feelings, new points of view, I have started to see the life in a different way and I think I will involve in new projects. 

 
 

Gender Inequality: 


 This time the guys from group number three took the first place to make their presentation. A girl from that group started speaking about how did the gender inequality begin, but what really caught my eye was that she was presenting with her litter child in her arms. That gave me an example of what a woman is able to do today and how nothing can stop her. But the most important thing is what she is teaching to her child, what he is seeing in his mom, who is a fighting woman. She was speaking about gender inequality and that scene fit the theme perfectly. It is clear that a woman can do it all. This group also spoke about how gender inequality can affect mental health and told us that boys are more vulnerable to be autist than girls. Another group member touches an important point about the impact of the gender inequality in education, how it is affecting women and men and they also discussed if there are racism in the gender inequality. We learn that racism and sexism affect women in their daily life, it could be even in getting a job. Even getting a job a man is seeing like a better prospect than a woman, and in the majority of cases, men are better paid too. But now there are movements to defend the right of the women to be the same of the men.                                                                                                                 

 
 

World Problems 


 The group number two presented after group number three. They focused their presentation in the world infrastructure's problems. They started speaking about the war between Russia and Ukraine. To be honest, this is a theme that is deeply affecting me. When the president Putin said he was going to attack Ukraine, I did not believe it, I thought he was only trying to get what he wanted threatening Ukraine and the rest of the world. I think that these are not time to lose in a war, now there are world organization that could help the two countries making decisions before to start a war. But this is the real life, this is what our world is facing now, a lot of death, hate and pain. Another point that touched my heart was the infrastructure in Miami since I knew two of the victims of the building collapse in the City of Surfside. They told us that the cause of the collapse was the lack of maintenance to the structure. It was very sad. This group also spoke about the infrastructure in Japan and how even there, bridges are being devastated. In this case, tsunamis are helping to the destruction. But Japan has a technologically improved infrastructure, they will find a way to fight against that. An important fact that group two spoke about was that Honduras is a second economy growing faster in Central America, and so is its infrastructure. This country is investing a lot of money to upgrade the roads and buildings in order to create a secure country for its habitants. 

 
 

Climate Change


   We were the last group presenting and we were speaking about how climate is changing in the world. In our presentation we focused in the main causes of the climate change and its effects. In my case, I spoke about how the marine life is getting damaged due to the climate change. There are some spices that are even dying and becoming extinct, and that is a real alarming situation. One of the things that global warming is causing, is the increase of the coral bleaching, this is due to the high temperatures. Finding out for my presentation I knew that the planet is in the midst of a mass extinction and up to 1 million of plant and animals are threatened with extinction. We also discussed about how natural disasters like Hurricanes can affect the plants and trees. Another group member spoke about the land animals, and how they are also under danger of extinction, some of those animals are the mountain gorilla, the cheetah and the asian elephant. This a a hard reality, it is so sad to know that animals are being affected by the hand of men. It is imperative to stop the climate change in our world. Even humans are being affected, but we knew that at least the water we drink is safe of contamination, but we have to be careful of bacteria and nitrates to keep our water drinkable. A good and easy way to start helping our planet is practicing the zero waste concept, discussed in the presentation, that consist of refuse, reduce, reuse, recycle and rot, and using solar panels and electric cars. I already started to save the planet buying an electric car,  everybody let's do our part in order to protect out world, that is the house of all of us.

Blog Post #2 | Groups 3, 2 and 1 | Esteban Mayorga

We will be starting off in the order that we started presenting. Thus, we'll start with group 3.   Group 3 Gender Inequality Group 3 started of their presentation explaining the conflicting opinions and societal situations that gender inequality has caused. Due to this, they begin by explaining the origins of this dilemma. With a great video incorporated by Wyniqua, the upsetting beginning of this gender issue is introduced to start out a great presentation. Thereafter, this group proceeds to state the racial aspect along with some great facts. This would further emphasize the importance of having knowledge of this topic to help people spread the word. Everything that was said was explained perfectly. Michelle and Luis also explained about the horrors that gender inequality has on the education system.           Chapter 3 "Intercultural Communication"     The heart of any culture is its values. Values are the commonly accepted standards of what is considered right and wrong, good and evil, fair and unfair, just and unjust, and so on.
